Israel, a Jewish nation, and Palestine, a primarily Muslim nation, have been at war for nearly 6 decades. Despite the intervention of many foreign powers and attempts to make peace over the years, the two nations have struggled, and continue to struggle, to reconcile their differences.

Some consider that the formal beginning of these hostilities began in 1947, when the British still controlled both territories. Under this control, Britain set up the individual nation of Palestine that was separate from the Jewish nation of Israel. However, this act was never implemented, causing border disputes and wars between 1947 and 1949.

Later, in 1967, Israel occupied the Gaza Strip and West Bank, both of which were Palestinian territories, during the Six Day War. During this time, Israel did not allow Palestinian refugees to live freely in Israel. They also set up Jewish settlements in these territories, which are considered illegal under international law.

After further conflicts, a conference was held in Oslo, Norway, known as the Oslo Accords. Resolutions were reached, which included the creation of a separate Palestinian nation, which was strongly supported by the public. However, over time, the support dwindled due to lack of progress towards peace.

The support that was first provided by the public led to the creation of the militant group that governed the Gaza Strip, known as Hamas. This group fought back against the Israeli groups, with their most recent retaliation taking place this year.

Hamas attacked multiple public events, festivals, and more, where havoc was wrought. Thus far, about 1,400 Israelis have been killed by Hamas, while over 5,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli bombings in the Gaza Strip.

In retaliation to the ongoing attacks by the Hamas group, the government of Israel bombed multiple civilian locations, including hospitals and critical care centers.

The deaths and casualties only seem to be increasing as the days go by, and no clear solution has come to light. Most donations are not even confirmed to have reached the intended recipients.

All in all, this is the history of the Israel and Palestine War.

We hope for an end to this violence.
